Greek Shipping during the Revolution: Merchant Shipping and Navy, 1821-1831

The aim of the program is to highlight the role of the merchant and naval fleets in the successful outcome of the War of Independence, but also during the early years of the Greek State, taking into account its economic and military action.

The research concerns a parallel study, for the first time, of the Greek merchant fleet the Greek Navy during the Greek Revolution (1821-1831). The aim of the program is to highlight the role of the merchant and naval fleets in the successful outcome of the War of Independence, but also during the early years of the Greek State, taking into account its economic and military action. The research aspires to enrich the academic knowledge of an unexplored but crucial aspect of the Greek War of Independence.
