Inauguration of the new building
On Sunday, September 19th 2010, at 17.45 p.m., the inauguration of the new building of the Institute for Mediterranean Studies will take place. It will be named after the deceased President of the Foundation for Research and Technology, native from Rethymno, the late Stelios Orphanoudakis.
The new building "Center for Cultural Technological Application : Stelios Orphanoudakis", will house the activities of the Laboratory of Geophysical-Satellite Remote Sensing (GIS) & Archaeo-environment, due to which the Institute has conquered a distinctive position in the scientific field of application of computer and hard sciences in archaeological and historical studies.
At the end of the inauguration ceremonies a cultural program will follow.
