The Greek revolution of 1821 from the Ottoman point of view

Marinos Sariyannis, Research Director and Department Coordinator of Ottoman History in the IMS-FORTH, will present “The Greek Revolution as an Ottoman event”.

Ηistorian Şükrü Ilıcak, editor of the volume "Those Infidel Greeks". The Greek War of Independence through Ottoman Archival Documents, will speak on “The decade before the Revolution”.

Finally, Leonidas Moiras, who is teaching Ottoman history in the University of Athens, will give a lecture on “The transition from "Rum Milleti" to "Yunan". An attempt of interpretation of the use of the terms "Yunan" and "Yunanistan" in the years of the Greek Revolution”.
