Advancing Artificial Intelligence and 5 Dimensional Space Based Methodologies for Monitoring Cultural Heritage
2025-2027
The project applies a pioneering 5D analytical framework, combining multiple streams of Earth Observation data with cutting-edge AI algorithms, enabling a more comprehensive interpretation of archaeological landscapes.
The project applies a pioneering 5D analytical framework, combining multiple streams of Earth Observation data — satellite imagery, UAV photography, LiDAR data and Digital Elevation Models — with cutting-edge AI algorithms, such as deep learning, machine learning and neural networks. This 5D perspective incorporates 3D spatial dimensions plus time and scale, enabling a more comprehensive interpretation of archaeological landscapes.
These technological innovations provide faster, smarter and more systematic guidance for archaeological prospection and continuous site monitoring, even in areas previously overlooked or difficult to access.
The project is funded by “FORTH-SYNERGY” grant call.
