The aim of this specific research activity is to gather the available sources on the subject of Greek shadow theatre in the daily and periodical press from the beginning of the independent Greek state until approximately the mid-twentieth century. The aim of the activity is to create two databases on Greek shadow theatre:

  1. Database of newspaper and periodical publications on Karagiozis
  2. A register of Vasilaros handwritten performances
  3. Bibliographic database
  4. Performance register

The main pillar of the activity is the collection of the handwritten performances of the interwar famous shadow puppet player Vasilaros or Vasilios Andrikopoulos. The collection is located in the Archive of the Department of Theatre Studies of the Institute of Mediterranean Studies.
