Nikos Alevyzakis

Nikos Alevyzakis is a historian with interests in the history of fisheries, in human intervention in the marine environment and in legal regulation of fishing, within the history of the Sea and along social and economic history and local history. His ph.D. thesis titled  “The marine fishery from the establishment of the Greek state to 1910” and supervised by Gelina Harlaftis is now under publication with Crete University Press, forthcoming in 2026. Alevyzakis has a long-standing record in research projects in the Ionian University, in Aegean University and in the Institute for Mediterranean Studies – FORTH. He has a significant number of publications in academic journals and chapters of books.
