Alexandra Papadopoulou

Alexandra Papadopoulou is a historian, post-doctoral researcher of the Institute for Mediterrannean Studies of the Foundation of Research and Technology in Crete. She graduated from the Department of History of the Ionian University where she completed her ph.D. thesis on the shipping of the island of Spetses in the 19th century. She has taught at the Ionian University and she was with a post-doctoral scholarship at the University of Βocconi. She has participated and has coordinated a large number of research projects. Αmong others, she was a member of the research project THALIS, "The Black Sea and its port-cities, 1774-1914. Development, convergence and linkages with the global economy", (http://blacksea.gr/), financed by the Greek National Strategic Reference Framework, the E.U. and the Greek Ministry of Education, during 2011-2015, and  a member of the coordinating team for the project “Onassis Business History” financed by the Onassis Foundation during 2017–2024. She has authored a significant number of articles and chapters in books. Her first book Greek Maritime History. From the Periphery to the Centre, (Brill, 2022) she co-edited with Katerina Galani.
