Lefteris Spyrou

Centre of Art History "El Greco" Lefteris Spyrou was born in Athens in 1977. He holds a Bachelor of Philosophy (University of Athens, 1999), a Master’s Degree in History of Art (University of Crete, 2005) and a PhD in History of Art (University of Crete, 2017). His dissertation is entitled “The history of the National Gallery in Athens and its contribution to the formation of art history in Greece: 1900-1971”. He has worked as researcher for the Institute for Mediterranean Studies on the project “Art criticism in Greece”. His research interests include the history of state art institutions, the study of art-criticism and exhibition history. He is a member of ICOM and the Association of Greek Art Historians.
