On Wednesday, November 6 , 20.30 , the Institute of Mediterranean Studies / FORTH (Melissinou & Nikiforou Fokas 130, Rethymnon) invites you to a lecture by Evguenia Davidova with title «Merchants’ Strategies for Business Expansion: Perspectives from the 19th-Century Central Balkans». Evguenia Davidova is a professor in the Department of International and Global Studies of Portland State University. Her research interests focus on topics such as commerce, transportation, nationalism, gender and public health in the post-Ottoman and post-Ottoman Balkans. Evguenia Davidova is the author of the book Balkan Transitions to Modernity and Nation-States. Through the Eyes of Three Generations of Merchants (1780s-1890s) (Brill, 2013) and editor of the volume Wealth in the Ottoman and post-Ottoman Balkans: A Socio-Economic History (I.B. Tauris, 2016).
