Live Interview with Gelina Harlaftis

In this interview with Mrs. Harlaftis, we will talk about the offer of Greek shipping and the decisive role it played in the Greek revolution of 1821.

Gelina Harlaftis is the Director of the Institute for Mediterranean Studies (IMS) of the Foundation for Research and Technology Hellas (FORTH) in Crete and a professor at the Department of History and Archeology of the University of Crete. She graduated from the University of Athens and completed her postgraduate studies at the University of Cambridge (M.Phil.) and Oxford (D.Phil.).

He has published 28 books in English, Canadian and Greek publishing houses and 60 articles in international scientific journals and collective volumes in Greek, English, French, Italian, German and Russian. Her latest book is Creating Global Shipping: Aristotle Onassis, the Vagliano Brothers and the Business of Shipping, c.1820-1970, Cambridge, Cambridge University Press, 2019.
