Theatre Studies

The Institute for Mediterranean Studies has a theatrology research department which over the past twenty years has systematically cultivated academic research into the history of the theatre. The older and main project in process is this of the History of the Modern Greek Theatre.

The theatrology department aims to expand by introducing particular research links with other academic areas and institutions, in order to appoint the Mediterranean dimension of Modern Greek Theatre, as well as to emphasize its importance in the configuration of 19^th and 20^th centuries modern greek culture.
