Programme of Postgraduate Studies in Turkish Studies
The Postgraduate Programme in Turkish Studies
is carried out by the Department of History and Archaeology of the University of Crete in cooperation with the Programme of Turkish Studies of the Institute of Mediterranean Studies, FORTH.
The programme accepts students by examination every two years. Candidates should be graduates of humanities and social sciences of Greek or foreign universities. Students are trained in Modern Turkish Language, Ottoman Diplomatics and Palaeography, and Ottoman and Turkish History.
The Programme of Turkish Studies of the IMS contributes its researchers and facilities to the Postgraduate Programme in Turkish Studies. The students are also supported by the specialized library of the IMS. The top two candidates in the entrance examination, as well as many of its graduates, are participating as research fellows in the projects of the Programme of Turkish Studies.
