Conferences

An international conference took place at the institute 21-23 September 2006, entitled
‘Gender, family and property in legal theory and practice: the European perspective from 10th-20th century’. It was organized (with help from the Department of History and Archaeology of the University of Crete) by the research programme ‘Marriage Contracts from the Greek world, 1500-1800. A contribution to the study of systems regarding the intergenerational transmission of property and the structure of the family’.

The conference attracted historians from twelve different European and American countries. The final programme included two keynote lectures, twenty shorter communications, plentiful interesting discussions and a presentation of the research programme.

The publication of the proceedings is being planned. For further details, please contact Dr Aglaia Kasdagli,  kasdagli@phl.uoc.gr.
